The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Food Safety today announced a public meeting to provide information and solicit public comments on the draft positions that the U.S. delegation proposes to use at the 42nd session of the Codex Committee on Food Hygiene, to be held in Kampala, Uganda from Nov. 29 through Dec. 3, 2010.

Autentico Foods, a Hawaiian Gardens, Calif., establishment, is recalling approximately 54,000 pounds of ready-to-eat pork products that it did not produce in accordance with its food safety plan, failing to take the steps it had determined were necessary to produce safe products.

USDA is hopeful that this information will help minimize the potential for foodborne illnesses due to power outages and other problems that are often associated with severe weather events.
